Welcome to Iowa Community Action Association (ICAA)

Iowa’s Community Action Agencies are locally-based private, non-profit organizations that network with a wide-array of local organizations to enhance the opportunities for low-income Iowans (children and families) to meet basic needs and develop their own capacity to do so.

To be a forceful advocate in support of policies and services that address the needs of individuals and families striving for economic security.

Vision  Iowa Community Action is the premier force ensuring those with less achieve more.

Embrace Iowa is Happening

Embrace Iowa is a joint project between Iowa Community Action Association (ICAA), Iowa Community Action Partnership (ICAP) & the Des Moines Register.  The Des Moines Register takes a leadership role in sharing the real life stories of Iowans who are struggling to meet their most basic needs and educates the people of Iowa about the barriers and struggles the families are facing.  Embrace Iowa funds are valuable to the families who receive them as the funds can be used to fill in the gaps that often times go unmet.  The three top areas of assistance last year were car repairs, beds and appliances.

The 13-14 Embrace Iowa Program raised over $195,000 and helped over 550 families across Iowa.

Contributions to Embrace Iowa can be sent to:
